2014 Highlights: Strategies and Solutions

IBM Data magazine—the forum for smarter business—spotlights its 2014 transformations and selected strategies-focused features

Twenty fourteen was a year of transformation for IBM Data magazine. Its ongoing mission to chronicle the evolution of data management technology and business information strategy was bolstered by several noteworthy enhancements.

Perhaps the biggest change for IBM Data magazine in 2014 was the late-spring appointment of James Kobielus—IBM big data evangelist and long-time frequent contributor—to editor in chief of the publication. Not only will he continue to regularly contribute articles, but he is also reaching out to readers each week in a new From the Editor feature on the home page. Each letter summarizes newly posted feature articles and provides commentary applicable to other items related to smarter data management and business information for the data management community.

During the summer, IBM Data magazine introduced its IBM Data magazine LinkedIn group. Readers can now use the convenient link on the IBMdatamag.com home page to easily access or register for the group and participate directly in discussions with IBM Data magazine editors and other industry luminaries.

In the fall, the magazine was significantly redesigned as the forum for smarter business. Its look-and-feel upgrade enriches its presentation of high-quality narrative generously provided by its deep roster of contributors. It also enhances its channels for notifying readers about new releases of analyst reports, ebooks, infographics, multimedia, white papers, and more from IBM Information Management resources. And the magazine continues to keep readers abreast of key upcoming conferences and online events and provides direct links to selected, scintillating blog sites.

As 2014 transitions to a new year of promising innovations, IBM Data magazine offers the following selection of 2014 feature article highlights that focus on topics in the strategies and solutions areas. Look for more 2014 feature article highlights that emphasize key technology areas in another December 2014 posting. Thank you for your engagement with IBM Data magazine, and please share any questions, suggestions, or thoughts in the comments.
