Big data for social good
Agile development requires agile fingers, and big problems require smart minds working together to solve them. Big data has opened the door for everyone to collaborate, think bigger and drive change in the world. Accessible and open services make harnessing the power of big data for these changes a reality.
Since 2008, IBM has been helping cities, organizations and people build a Smarter Planet. Today, our new Bluemix platform for developers continues to grow, offering users new capabilities every day that they can attach, build and deploy for web and mobile app success. This convergence of big data, mobile and cloud empowers developers to identify problems, consider solutions, drive agile development with leading technologies and find better answers.
Today we’re announcing the Big Data for Social Good Challenge (#Hadoop4good). For this global hackathon, IBM will be working closely with cities of LA, Boston, San Jose and others while participants compete to create innovative solutions using Hadoop that solve civil and other real world social challenges. It’s open, fun and there are big prizes too.
We’ll provide the platform, data and problems that need to be solved to get you started—you bring your magnificent coding skills, imagination and thirst for change.
Ready to learn more? We’ll hit you with the full details on November 10, 2014 when the submission period opens. Register today to make sure you’re alerted as soon as the submission period begins! Together, we can use big data for good.
