Calling all TM1 users: Your next on-premises planning solution is here

Senior Marketing Writer, IBM

If you’re a finance professional who uses IBM Cognos TM1, then you likely enjoy using it. Cognos TM1 is well suited for planning, budgeting, forecasting and analyzing financials for thousands of finance organizations around the world. Forrester Research evaluated enterprise performance management (EPM) solution providers in its recent Forrester Wave report, and according to the report, “Customer references indicated very positive levels of success with IBM TM1.” As a result, the solution acquired a global following.

Many Cognos TM1 users, however, are also aware of IBM Planning Analytics, a performance management solution that includes Cognos TM1 technology. IBM Planning Analytics is built on the fast, scalable, multidimensional Cognos TM1 online analytical processing (OLAP) engine, but it also offers visual, cognitive and predictive analytics that can transform and redefine your planning processes.

In the past, you might not have investigated IBM Planning Analytics because it was only available as a cloud solution. Maybe your IT department told you to wait for an on-premises version. Well, that wait is over.

Starting in December 2016, IBM intends to begin offering an on-premises version of IBM Planning Analytics. This version enables finance organizations that have wanted to upgrade their planning to deploy IBM Planning Analytics for fast, agile analysis. In addition to the availability of on-premises—or mixed—deployment, organizations can benefit from other key enhancements:

  • Workspace: An innovative user interface for web and mobile users provides self-service dashboards and visualizations.
  • IBM Planning Analytics for Excel: This Microsoft Excel add-in for planning, analysis and reporting enables you to combine the familiar Excel spreadsheet interface with the analytical power and broad capabilities of this performance management solution.
  • Hierarchies: IBM Planning Analytics allows for performing virtual attribute analysis to give you enhanced granularity and insight into your data.
  • IBM Watson Analytics: You can uncover insights automatically—directly from internal or external data—by leveraging the predictive power of Watson Analytics.
