IBM Big Data Developer Days

In June, close to 80 developers in the Silicon Valley area attended the free IBM Big Data Developer Day event. It was a great chance for developers to learn about the latest IBM technologies for addressing big data challenges. Not only did they gain valuable information from the sessions, but they also had the chance to try out the technology with hands-on labs on Hadoop, social media and text analysis, machine data analytics, and more - all running on the Cloud.

Given the success of that first event, IBM is organizing more events like it in several other cities throughout the remainder of 2012. Here is a typical agenda for an IBM Big Data Developer Day:

Hands-On Lab with Hadoop Text Analytics/Hadoop Scripting, JAQL, Spreadsheet analytics for Big Data, SPL Programming Scripting and text analytics.

 

The morning consists of technology overviews, interactive discussions and live demonstrations, while the whole afternoon is for labs! If you want to participate during the lab session, you need to bring your own laptop. The main requirement is to have a browser with Java enabled.
