Unlocking Big Data: Assess Your Competency

I’m sure we can all agree that we’ve moved past big data being “industry buzz” to accepting that big data – and the analytics we glean from it – is an “industry necessity” for success.


What we can’t always agree on is what big data means to our jobs, our companies and our customers. How we define, explore, apply and learn from data is different to each one of us, depending on where we work within an organization and, of course, what kind of an organization we work within.

In order to create a path to success, organizations need to do more than educate themselves on the concepts required to enable today’s data driven enterprise. They need to honestly consider and accurately measure their competency in this subject so they know efficient and effective they are in optimizing their data, technology and talent.

To assist in making these measurements, IDC and IBM have compiled a brief survey related to your organization’s big data challenges and capabilities. Your answers will be privately compiled against a baseline of other organizations assessed by IDC, ranking your organization in one of 5 categories of maturity:
