Creating personalized viewing experiences for your target audience

Reilly is managing director and research fellow for Annenberg Innovation Lab at the University of Southern California (USC)’s Annenberg School for Communications and Journalism and executive director of Blackstone LaunchPad USC. In this podcast, she covers everything from her experience at this year’s National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show to what she defines as Think and Do, an ideation session Reilly developed to engage the wider community in re-envisioning the media and entertainment industry. 

In her role, Reilly oversees all aspects of lab programming, product design and mentoring of students in developing applications and business ideas using digital media and how it impacts society:

  • Reilly’s research focuses on new media literacies, transmedia play and learning, social entrepreneurialism, audience engagement and the future of media and entertainment.
  • Currently, she leads multiple teams who conduct engagement research in the areas of unscripted entertainment, transmedia entertainment, music and sports.
  • Her most recent research on leveraging engagement offers the initial case study, “Fans, Passions and Brands: A Global Study on Football.” 

Having received multiple awards, including Cable in the Classroom’s Leaders in Learning award, Reilly is a recognized expert in the development of processes and resources for educators and students. She conducts field research to collect data and help shape the field of digital media and learning. And her Think and Do ideation process was a finalist in the Management Innovation Exchange (MIX) prize that is awarded through Harvard Business Review and McKinsey and Company.
