What developers can expect from Apache CouchDB 2.0
IBM Analytics Platform Services CTO Adam Kocoloski, who is also a Committer and PMC Member for Apache® CouchDB™, shares his thoughts on the Apache Software Foundation’s release of Apache CouchDB 2.0 last week.
As Kocoloski explains, Apache CouchDB 2.0 – the long-awaited, first major release for the project in some time – is equipped with significantly improved scalability and usability enhancements, including a new query language and a redesigned administrative console.
Kocoloski expects the release to trigger a surge in developer interest around Apache CouchDB, and to enable expanded participation of the CouchDB community in other developer ecosystems, such as Docker and Apache Spark. As the leading database for offline first development, due to its advanced data replication and syncing capabilities, Apache CouchDB 2.0 will also enable developers to build Web, mobile and IoT apps that function even in offline scenarios.
